License: Air Brake (Z) Endorsement, Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Experience: 1 year (preferred)
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Transportation/travel experience : Long-haul, Short-haul
Transportation/travel information: Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel for extended periods
Language: English
Work Setting : Various Locations / Surrey
Security and safety: Driving record check (abstract)
Job Duties
- Address customers’ complaints or concerns
- Professionalism in customer service
- Arrange travel, related itineraries and make reservations
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- Load and unload goods
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Pay and receive payments for goods
- Perform brake adjustments
- Perform emergency roadside repairs
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Perform preventive maintenance
- Receive and relay information to central dispatch
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
- Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
- Transport and handle dangerous goods
Job Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Communication systems experience
- Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Type of trucking and equipment
- Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer
Weight handling
- More than 45 kg (100 lbs)
